- take Petri dish from picking lab to Z lab
- select one hex cap sav. HCS(av) per sample
- use HCSav etched with # 1 – 8 from hot plate
- discard HF/HNO3 from within HCSav
- rinse HCSav and HCSav lid with (H2O)mQ
- repeat step 4
- under microscope inspect WSav to insure it is clean
- in ethanol, transfer Zs into HCSav using transfer pipette
- pipette off ethanol
- add 10 drops (H2O)mQ to HCSav
- pipette off (H2O)mQ
- repeat steps 9 and 10
- add 20 drops (HF)z and 2 drops (HNO3)z
- loosely put lid on HCSav
- add 3 – 6 ml (HF)g to large Teflon insert
- add 1 – 2 ml (HF)g to small Teflon insert
- add 1 drop (HNO3)z for every ml of HF
- place HCS(av) into insert
- use blue forceps
- grasp HCSav by lid
- lower into insert
- stagger HCSavs so that each lid rests on the other
- place insert in metal jacket and put in 220°C oven for ~16 hours
- do NOT leave for longer than intended
