- Disassemble turret: Screws, springs, ballbearings, retaining ring and screw, and turret handle are not cleaned (store in small beaker).
- Turret blocks go into 2000 mL Pyrex beaker and turret goes into 4000 mL Pyrex beaker.
- Add reagent grade 3.5M HNO3 to both beakers.
- Boil for an hour on hotplate in the clean lab hood.
- Cool and discard nitric acid into used nitric acid container.
- Rinse 5 times with MQH2O and discard into used nitric acid container.
- Add ACS-grade hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) to both beakers.
- Boil for an hour on hotplate in the clean lab hood.
- Cool and discard hydrogen peroxide into used hydrogen peroxide container.
- Rinse 5 times with MQH2O and discard into used hydrogen peroxide container.
- Rinse 1 time with methanol and discard methanol into used methanol container.
- Dry in the 70°C oven in the mass spec lab.
- When dry, return to loading bench.
