Sean Gaynor is a Ph.D student working with Drew Coleman on better understanding the geochronology, geochemistry and structure of Climax-type Mo porphyry systems, and their role within long-lived magmatic centers. Currently, this research is focused on the Latir volcanic field, located in northern New Mexico. The Questa Climax-type Mo, previously run and managed by Chevron Mining Inc. previous to closure in 2014, has been a heavy focus of this work. So far, this project has involved in-house analysis of Sr, Nd and Pb whole rock isotopes and U-Pb zircon geochronology.
